Smoke and mirrors,... 

Perhaps not a phrase you'd associate with the powers that be...then again, with their track record, perhaps it is! Certainly it is with regards to Inheritance Tax and in order to enhance their 'trick' they appear to have recruited most of the press too. The majority seemingly happy to go along with our Darling Darling, lulling us into a false sense of security, believing that we all now have an AUTOMATIC right to a Nil Rate Band of £600,000. How wrong could this be! Especially as the Nil Rate Band has NOT changed at all, all they have done is granted an ability to transfer to a surviving spouse, unused relief, but this exercise is far from automatic.
